![]() It will certainly be interesting watching her story unfold and Kim Bo-ra has been doing an amazing job bringing this seemingly sweet, innocent girl with an agenda to life. Hye-na has nothing more to lose but everything to gain. The neighbourhood of Sky Castle filled with wealthy and successful families needs to watch out for the poor girl with no family. But the most I am worried about is how she manipulates Woo-joo’s affection for her. She extends a hand towards her rival, Ye-seo, and her rival’s sister, Kang Ye-bin (Lee Ji-won), but her secret smiles tell the truth that her words hide. Her exterior kindness to the people around her seems like a farce in order to use them. Behind every charming smile and her reassurances that she is fine, we see something darker lurking behind. Now that her mother has passed away, Hye-na has nothing more to lose and nothing at all to fear. And from here, we see her less as a student with conviction but someone who masks their schemes with big eyes and a sweet smile. But Hye-na doesn’t stop at the blackmail but makes a mockery out of the wealthy, ambitious woman who chases after her and basically begs for her service. ![]() Then we see her blackmail her classmate’s mother for whom she has been paid to do his assignments. Hye-na stood her ground firmly, never wavering. She showed us that she was a strong, young lady with even stronger morals when she stood up against the teacher who was incompetent but could never be removed from his position because of his personal relationship with the school chairman. It’s not easy to want Hye-na to win against Ye-seo because we are frightened of her.Įven before her mother died, Hye-na already made me wary. But instead of cheering her on, every time Hye-na appears on my screen, I am constantly suspicious of her actions and I find it difficult to admire her character and this episode showed me why. She is the typical story of the protagonist that makes us want to cheer her on as she strives in this unfair society and comes out on top. We’ve seen this character in countless shows, from Cha Eun-Sang (Park Shin-hye) in The Heirs, Ji Eun-tak (Kim Go-eun) in Goblin, Choi Ae-ra (Kim Ji-won) in Fight For My Way and many more. Hye-na is the typical story of the underprivileged who works hard. Hye-na cares for her mother and works to pay the medical bills while maintaining her position in school - second only to Ye-seo. Unlike Ye-seo who comes from a wealthy family, can afford the best, private education, and never worries about anything apart from getting good grades, Hye-na comes from a poor family with no father and a sickly mother in a nursing home. It’s easy to overlook Kim Hye-na as nothing more but the rival of Kang Ye-seo (Kim Hye-yoon) and later on the love interest of Hwang Woo-joo (Kang Chan-hee). It does not store any personal data. While this show normally focuses on the mothers, a character who is becoming significant and will rock the neighbourhood of SKY Castle is the student, Kim Hye-na (Kim Bo-ra).
